DESCRIPTION:Talk 1: Tactile Internet with Human-In-The-Loop\n\nThe speaker:
   Frank H.P. Fitzek is Professor and head of the “Deutsche Telekom Chair of
  Communication Networks” at TU Dresden coordinating the 5G Lab Germany and 
 spokesman of the DFG Cluster of Excellence CeTI. He studied electrical engi
 neering at the RWTH Aachen and earned his Ph.D. from the TU Berlin. He was 
 Professor at Universities in Ferrara and Aalborg and co-founded several sta
 rt-up companies (e.g. acticom GmbH). He won a variety of prizes (YRP, Nokia
 , SAPERE AUDE) and was awarded a Dr. h.c..\n\nAbstract: The talk will addre
 ss the technology needed to build up the tactile Internet for different use
  cases such as medicine, industry 4.0, and Internet of skills. Main focus i
 s on low latency and ultra-reliable communication and how it can be realize
 d in softwarized networks.\n\nCurrent technologies such as 5G are discussed
  to enable the tactile Internet. Furthermore, the talk will highlight inter
  disciplinary research on tactile Internet with focus on psychology and med
 icine building the required human to machine interfaces to have mutual lear

 nTalk 2: AI-assisted Surgery – Perspectives and Challenges\n\nThe speaker: 
  Stefanie Speidel is professor for “Translational Surgical Oncology” at the
  National Center for Tumor Diseases Dresden and one of the co-speakers of C
 eTI. She received her PhD from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (“Intellig
 ent Surgery”) and had a junior research group “Computer-Assisted Surgery”. 
 Her current research interests include image- and robot-guided surgery, sof
 t-tissue navigation, sensor-based surgical training and intraoperative work
 flow analysis based on various sensor signals in the context of the future 
 operating room. She has been (co)-authoring more than 100 publications, org
 anizes workshops including the Endoscopic Vision Challenge@MICCAI as well a
 s the Surgical Data Science workshop.\n\nAbstract: The rooms (OR), featurin
 g digital and interconnected as well as robotic devices provide a huge amou
 nt of valuable data which can be used to improve patient therapy. Although 
 a lot of data is available, it is an overwhelming challenge for physicians 
 and the surgical outcome is extremely dependent on the experience of the su
 rgical staff. In this talk, I’ll present my research regarding cognitive sy
 stems in the context of surgery as enabler for AI-assisted surgery. The goa
 l is to bridge the gap between data science, sensors and robotics to enhanc
 e the collaboration between surgeons and cyber-physical systems and to demo
 cratize surgical skills by quantifying surgical experience and make it acce
 ssible to machines. Several examples to optimize the therapy of the individ
 ual patient by turning the available data into useful information are given
 .\n\nFinally remaining challenges and strategies to overcome them are discu
 ssed.\n\n\n\nTalk 3: Multisensory perception across the lifespan: Implicati
 ons for Technologies for Tactile Internet AI-assisted Surgery\n\nThe speake
 r:  Shu-Chen Li is professor and head of the Chair of Lifespan Developmenta
 l Neuro-science at TUD as well as a speaker of CeTI. She received her Ph.D.
  degree in cognitive psychology from the University of Oklahoma. After work
 ing at the McGill University in Canada, she continued her research at the M
 ax Planck Institute for Human Development until she took up the professorsh
 ip at TUD. She was also adjunct professor of the Brain Research Center in t
 he College of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Chiao-Tun
 g University in Taiwan.\n\nA key aspect of her research focuses on understa
 nding brain mechanisms of neuronal gain control and their implications on a
 ge-related differences in perception and cognition across the human life sp
 an. For several years she served as the associated editor of Developmental 
 Psychology, one of the ﬂagship journals of the American Psychological Assoc
 iation.\n\nShe is currently a member of the editorial board of Neuroscience
  and Biobehavioral Reviews. Since 2020 she is also a member of the selectio
 n committee for the German Thesis Award sponsored by the Körber-Stiftung.\n
 \nAbstract: Next generation digitally transmitted communication and interac
 tion that will become possible through the Tactile Internet (TI) will invol
 ve closed-loop multisensory information processing of the interaction partn
 ers, be it between human and machine or between human and human.\n\nThis pr
 esentation will give an overview of development and aging-related changes i
 n mechanisms of neuronal gain control, which, in turn, affect the reliabili
 ty and capacity of human perception and action.\n\nFor TI to optimally serv
 e a broad population of users for Internet-of-Skill applications, age- and 
 learning-dependent human factors of multisensory perception need to be cons
 idered en route technological developments. Our ongoing research at the int
 erface between some of these human factors and the development of tactile c
 odecs as well as VR-assisted technologies will be highlighted.\n\nDie Präse
